Jack the Collector Posted September 13, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2020 This I bought from a Canadian WW2 vet in the seventies. It was one of those "what was I thinking?" moments for me.Mind you I was 15 years old at the time.He was clearing out his German items he brought home.Instead of buying the SS dagger he had...I ought the SA dagger.Instead of buying the huge Kriegs flag he had...I bought a party banner(which has a story to tell). I indeed bought what I liked. This NSKK Ehrenwinkel für Alte Kämpfer (Honor Chevron for Old Campaigners/Fighters) is one item I did not question the purchase. bryang Posted September 16, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 16, 2020 I'm right there with you! I started collecting as a kid - about 13 or so - when my father was stationed in Belgium. I spent my weekly allowance at the Mons flea market each Sunday morning. I bought mostly old helmets. One morning I had in my hands a WW2 German Fallschirjager helmet ............ and I didn't buy it. Because it had been painted pink and purple and used after the war as a motorcycle helmet.
