SARGE Posted September 22, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 22, 2020 Neat to see the original Turkish (not German made) issue star award. I have never seen the "Baghdad" bar before. How is it affixed to the ribbon?
trixie123 Posted September 22, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted September 22, 2020 It is very tightly on it . Can’t really pull it loose I assume prongs ? It’s very tight .but not 100% sure ? It seems to have original finish on it not tarnish as I originally thought ?
SARGE Posted September 22, 2020 Share #4 Posted September 22, 2020 Yes, the painted orange/red finish on the star is the original finish for Turkish made and issued awards. The Germans made private purchase period copies with red enamel and better cast metal that could be bought by German awardees for wear. The black and red paint finish on the bar looks original to me as well.
trixie123 Posted September 22, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted September 22, 2020 Can’t find much info on the Baghdad clasp or on how many Germans fought around there ?
Dirk Posted September 22, 2020 Share #6 Posted September 22, 2020 Wasn't Godet also a high end jeweler that also made awards and decorations?

Fred Borgmann Posted October 7, 2020 Share #9 Posted October 7, 2020 The star should have a pin back and was usually worn as such with just the ribbon on ribbon bar.

The ribbon has holes where it was pinned on. It has a vertical pin.
