Kia kaha Posted October 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2020 Here are some examples of parachute qualification badges of the Rhodesian Armed Forces up to and including early Zimbabwe. Are there any others out there? 1960s type on battle dress, origanly padded this one has been trimmed and glued to a metal backing plate, to enable soldier’s to change wings from one shirt to another. Kia kaha Posted October 9, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted October 9, 2020 This is a later Zimbabwe Para Group combat dress wing 1990s to present, it is made flat only and sewn on the chest of the camouflage shirt. The dress version was in the style of The Parachute Regiment cap badge without the “crown”.
Gunslinger Posted October 11, 2020 Share #7 Posted October 11, 2020 I like the way this parachute qualification brevet has been trimmed in post 1. Have seen this practice on British Parachute badges mounted to a fixture many times before, most often seen in the Mediterranean Theatre. The parachutist badge in post 3, the detail in the canopy is a dead giveaway that this badge is a reproduction. CDub

Kia kaha Posted January 11, 2023 Author Share #16 Posted January 11, 2023 some more combat uniform wings worn by a soldier serving in the Rhodesian Light Infantry. Padded wing padding removed from wing members of 3 Commando(company) R.L.I. Had this wing made and some troopers wore it in the field on overalls/coveralls, but it was not worn officially on uniforms in camp/barracks. RhodesianMilitaria Posted November 18, 2023 Share #23 Posted November 18, 2023 Post one. Why would the recipient of this wing remove the padding to change it from shirt to shirt? Why is the material the wing is sown on is different? Please explain why this wing was issued?
