Iraq berets, hat badges and an AK bayonet. The skull pin is not original!

The OD beret is Spanish. I don't recall a Spanish presence in the Gulf during ODS. Was this brought back or acquired by some other means? IIRC, the red beret was worn by the Iraqi Military Police. Most soldiers wore a black beret and their airborne forces wore maroon berets.

Brought back by my son, an infantryman with a Striker unit. Odd because their is one for sale now on Ebay advertised as Spanish Civil War.

These are most definitely NOT Spanish Civil War. They were all over the place in the early 1980's via surplus stores and the like. They were almost as common as Spanish Mauser bayonets. I'm pretty sure they were worn through the Franco era. Not sure what the Spanish army is wearing today.

Correct. In 1967 the original name was changed to Boinus Elosegui SA, so these berets postdate that. Another for sale now on E-bay, these are pretty common. No photo though.

Strikers didn't exist in ODS, he means OIF. The red beret is a Wassit manufactured MP beret with the wrong badges on it. Bayonet is cool, the beret may be from the Spanish contingent that was in Iraq until they withdrew in late 2003 after a domestic terror attack. Spain was in command of the multi national division for a while.   Scott
