Slow progress on the WTW dio. Detail painting, highlighting and applying color filters. I´m using washes like those of TENSOCROM and others.

Meanwhile the next kit arrived. I noticed that it went out of stock everywhere so I got me the MB Commomwealth AFV Crew set. I think I can use some figures for the dio.

The officer with the tea cup looks like Montgomery!  You could have him supervising the recovery operation, as if he had nothing else to do to manage the war effort!

"Manage the war effort" I had to laugh out loud when reading this.😂 And yes, you´re right, it´s Montgomery with his two beret insignia.

Just joining in here. This is going to be great. Not least because it features my favorite wheeled vehicle from WW2: the Scammel truck. The IBG kit looks very good and I like the paint and dust job 🙂.

A while ago I purchased the Scammel tank transporter from Thunder. At the model shop they had several IBG and Thunder versions but I believe Thunder is the only manufacturer of the tank transporter in 1:35 scale. Had they had both I would have probably gone for the Thunder kit anyway because I'm not a fan of rubber tires (but that's just me) and it does have seperate doors 😉. Parts wise I think both IBG and Thunder are very nice and detailed kits.

The Pioneer is an awesome kit, thanks for adding it to the topic. This one screams for a "transport of a captured German/Italian tank" dio, doesn´t it?. Definitely on my wish list from now on.

While we are on it: Thunder released a Scammel artillery tractor with towed 7,2 Inch howitzer. For sure another killer kit.

Nice! I believe the tractor and howitzer were already available seprately but they combine well.

For anyone interested in Scammel tractors there are some IWM films on youtube

Dogsboy, sorry that I didn´t respond to your last posts! These are some excellent videos. I especially like the last one with the crocodile tank, awesome.

High time to go on with this project here. I think I need 7-8 figures for the dio. Started with the assembly today.

Wow, now that is a nice load. Good job in getting them to fit seamlessly. Looking forward to the weathering of these vehicles.

Now the most difficult part of the project, the desert. For molding the surface I´m using a mix of instant filler, bird sand, glue and water (with a few drops dish soap).
