Kia kaha Posted January 18, 2021 Author Share #28 Posted January 18, 2021 used by a S.A.S. Guy, this helmet seems to be a Chinese G 70 but in steel slightly different shape to the G80. I’ve seen two of these helmets in Zimbabwe owned by ex Rhodesian soldiers with no connection to the Zimbabwe National Army.so it seems they were in use before 1980. Kia kaha Posted January 20, 2021 Author Share #32 Posted January 20, 2021 These helmets all seem to come from Rhodesian S.A.S. Sources, here’s one from http://www.therhodesiansas.com/clothing-and-equipment/ same type of glued cover, unit tailor made from old camo uniforms, same yellow paint issue numbers inside. This has British HSAT chin straps. The same pattern riveted bails with rivet heads exposed through the cover.

A number of these helmets were captured during a cross border raid, shipped back to Rhodesia with tons of ammo, weapons, documents and other useful stuff. The Rhodesian S.A.S. Converted these to be used as a para helmet that could be used in combat and when blowing bridges and buildings etc. These are/where Albanian Army helmets (Chinese made and supplied to Albania during the 70s) Albanian chinstrap bails Rhodesian with the remains of the Albanian lug under the sweatband
