24thinfantry Posted December 17, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2020 I came across this knife which I am pretty sure is Kriegsmarine based on the engraved anchor. However I am not sure of the era. I thought it was WWII but now I am skeptical. The knife is 10 inches tip to pommel. Its acid etched and Solingen. I imagine its probably not worth a heck of a lot but I was wondering what would this knife be valued at? I do not want to purchase it and find out i paid double the price, I do not even mind paying the retail price because I have a nice grouping of Kriegsmarine items it will display nicely with. Thank you very much in advance for the help!
SARGE Posted December 18, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2020 Most certainly a private purchase civilian style knife. Is the maker "RODO" on the ricasso?

24thinfantry Posted December 21, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted December 21, 2020 Sorry I do not have any other close-up pics of this knife right now. And I believe it is marked RODO.
SARGE Posted December 25, 2020 Share #5 Posted December 25, 2020 There are two companies named "RODO" that come to mind. One is a WWII period German "RODO" that made belt buckles. I am not aware of them making any edged weapons. And, there is a British "RODO" that did make knives from before the war until now. It is possible that your knife was British made instead of being German. I can't make out the wording below the "RODO" etching.
