easterneagle87 Posted December 28, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2020 A friend sent me this picture of a n Army/Heer long service ribbon with the symbol and crossed swords. I spoke with Mr Jerry about it and commented that they combined the two logos. How about your thoughts..
SARGE Posted December 28, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2020 Mr. Jerry is right. The blue ribbon is the color for a generic ribbon bar ribbon for lower time service awards, not just the Heer. You have a long service bar for the Faithful Service (Treudienst Ehrenzeichen) for the Civil Service according to the silver cross. This silver cross indicates 25 years of faithful service. The crossed swords typically indicate combat service but that does not really apply to the Civil Service. So, this is not an official award. Having said that, similar other non-standard examples of this type are known. What is not known is if these were made up during the war or after it to fool collectors. Here is an example of a similar Police Combat Service for a 25 Years of Service award. This is not official either.
