Hink441 Posted January 30, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 30, 2021 This is a recent pick up. A well worn M80 Iraqi helmet with markings. The helmet has an intact liner and is missing the chin strap. The helmet has some damage and has writing on the head band.
RAB Posted February 3, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2021 Very nice especially the markings and damage to shell.
Hink441 Posted February 5, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted February 5, 2021 Thank you for your comment. I wish I could read the writing on the head-band and on the rear of the helmet. I have no idea on the meaning of the white numbers on black circle. I have read some people think it is an inventory number and others think it is a unit marking. Wish I knew for sure. Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted February 16, 2021 Share #4 Posted February 16, 2021 personally I believe the numbers are inventory/roster numbers. The same style of marking was used on rifles, and in photos of groups of rifles captured together you can see that while they made use the same colors, none of them have the same numbers. However I also think it is quite likely the color combinations are not random and probably have some meaning as unit.
Hink441 Posted February 19, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted February 19, 2021 Thank you for the comment. I tend to think you are correct with the inventory numbers. Just wish we could find something definitive. Chris
