Trying to get an ID on this beret and coming up empty.  Online search seems to indicate the blue color is paratroops?  I haven’t been able to find anything similar to the badge with the chute on it.  What do I have?  Thanks so much.

You have a Soviet Union era paratrooper beret.   While most airborne forces wear the maroon beret the airborne forces of the Soviet Union or Russia wear this sky blue beret.  Here are some photos I found of these types of beret being worn by Soviet Union era paratroopers.  The side insignia varies as some are very colorful.

Great!! Thanks so much.  Is the side emblem a unit designation?

Not sure but since the end of communisms the Russian airborne forces have kept their sky blue beret with even fancier side insignia.
