PIckelhaube with no eagle or lion

This has been offered to me: I have only this photo, which shows enough that I should able to find on match online. Wrong.

There are tons of pickelhaub plates online, but almost all seem to have an eagle and/or a lion, except for one drawing of a similar plate.

This is an Imperial Austrian Police helmet if I am not mistaken.  I think the plate is a Franz Joseph cypher.

Thanks for the additional photos Bob.  

 

Yes, this is an Imperial Austrian police helmet for the Vienna Police (Sicherheitswache).  It is missing the leather liner and interior chin strap that goes through the metal D rings inside the crown.  These policemen were considered to be Officials (Beamte), not part of the military, in WWI Austria.  They were folded into the German Polizei structure during WWII.  They took a new oath, got German Police uniforms, and functioned as German Schutzpolizei and Gendarmerie until the end of WWII.  They then went back to being Austrian Policemen.
