stratasfan Posted February 19, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2021 Wondering if anyone can help me with what this device on the French WWII Commemorative medal is for/would be for? I've seen the bars/clasps, but this is new to me! Thanks for any help in advance! Elizabeth
numbersix Posted December 5, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2021 The Cross of Lorraine with V for victory symbol was known as the Liberation Cross and appeared during World War 2 as a sign of restistance, as grafitti and on armbands and so one. I believe General Charles De Gaulle chose the Cross as the symbol of Free French Forces too. It may indicate service in the Resistance, I am not that familiar with French Medals though.
