Dan Posted March 25, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2021 I don't know where to ask this question on this forum so here goes. Is it possible to research a German Army soldier from WW1? Did any records survive? I have a WW1 German helmet with the soldiers name and unit written in pencil. It has faded over the years as you can expect. Looks like (as was written): Leutnant ?? H. Sauer Feld Art ? 245 or 275 4 Batterie I appreciate any advise or thoughts on this. My apologies if posted to the wrong section. Thanks. Proud Kraut Posted March 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted March 25, 2021 A Royal Saxon Feldartillerie Regiment 245 did exist. Could you please post a picture of the writing.
Dan Posted March 27, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted March 27, 2021 I'll try to get a pic. Don't know how clear it will come out. Stay tuned.
