Boy Howdy Posted March 26, 2021 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2021 I've had this buckle for some time. No one I know is a TR belt buckle expert. Is this a period buckle and if so for what unit? Thank you all in advance.

SARGE Posted March 26, 2021 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2021 A generic German belt buckle made by Robert Dold of Offenburg (RODO). Blank round Officer belt buckles are shown in the Assmann catalog but blank rectangular Enlisted style buckles are not and they made about everything. I suppose a blank buckle could be used for about any organization that did not have a specific belt buckle style. Perhaps someone else will comment on your specific use. Gwar Posted April 1, 2021 Share #6 Posted April 1, 2021 Most likely a blank-unfinished buckle that was used after the war, supplies of ANYTHING were scarce, a lot of Third Reich items were re-purposed out of necessity..
Boy Howdy Posted April 1, 2021 Author Share #7 Posted April 1, 2021 That makes sense considering their economy post war. Thank you for your input.
