NVA Flag - Yes? No?

I picked up this flag at this weekend's militaria collector show in Nashville TN.  Before buying it I took it around to a few other knowledgeable collectors who each told me that they thought it looked good.

However, I was informed online that this was counterfeit.

Just looking for a few more opinions.

Thanks -

Bryan

I remember being at a collectors place and he had a drawer full of NVA flags that im pretty sure he got in Vietnam over the years after the war, looked like this one, with out any solid evidence of its history i wouldnt pay more than $30 for something like this but thats just me.

That is the current flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.  In that sense it is not counterfeit.

Now, as to when it was made and how it was brought back.... there is no way to tell.

The construction technique with the way the center star is sewn dates back to the wartime period but has been continued to the present day.  The materials appear to be natural cotton as opposed to a modern synthetic, but again they are made this way for the tourist market today.

If nothing else, it is a display item for the wall behind your collection.
