WW2 german feuerwehr tunic?

Hello, I recently purchased this German fireman’s jacket off ebay believing it was a ww2 pice. However, after I did some research I don’t know when it’s from. It has the design of a WW2 feuerwehr uniform however some of the buttons are not present and it looks like a chunk of material was removed from where the buttons should be. Also from the photos it doesn’t look like there is a button for the neck color. Aside from that it looks original. From my research the East German feuerweher uniform has some slight differences from the wartime one. such as the pocket placement, the number of buttons, the color of the uniform and the lack of red/pink piping on the uniform and pants. Help is greatly appreciated.7A2EE689-EC32-465B-B852-F062F8B3C535.jpeg.e5482f703b2a7b3a9a4499cc41bdd271.jpeg

Hello Hans,

Your tunic appears to be a re-styled WWII Volunteer Fire Department (FFW) tunic from what I can see.  Originally made with the four panel "Rock" cut back with a box tail skirt and polished buttons as seen on the back belt ramp buttons.  The front has been re-styled from a closed collar eight button front into an open collar tunic with a three button front.  Typical of the German ethos to "waste not - want not" but to rework old uniforms into new style ones.

So, bottom line is that your uniform is now a reworked postwar fire service tunic.

I hope this helps.
