Got this from the estate recently, and would like to know if this is just a souvenir patch or military. Any help with time period would be appreciated as well.

German Bundeswehr insignia for "Gebirgsjaeger" (Mountain troops). Worn on the right sleeve of the dress uniform. Officer variant. Worn from the late 1950´s until 1962.

Thank y'all for the help for the patch! I do have one more patch that I now believe is German, is this military as well?

No, not military. These are the coat of arms of Augsburg, a Bavarian city.

This is an outstanding collection, thanks for sharing, doughboy!

I only have a few variants. Still unsure about the one with the single red border (2nd photo, 3rd row, far left) and the "Oberhofen" variant (2nd row, far right, most probably civilian).

Interestingly the Gebirgsjäger patch was depicted upside down in the German uniform manuals (former ZDv 37/10) for decades.
