rrobertscv Posted June 12, 2021 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2021 Hoping someone can tell me what this might be? Thanks for any help.
gwb123 Posted June 16, 2021 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2021 First off, I think the aircraft is a Japanese Kawasaki KI-10-II "Perry". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_Ki-10 (There are better images if you do a Google Images search.) Secondly, if folded, it might be a Hachimaki headband to be worn by a pilot. Please see: Someone other than I will have to translate the writing on yours and confirm if it is Japanese. Fortunes Of War Posted June 17, 2021 Share #4 Posted June 17, 2021 This looks like a tenugui (or Japanese towel) to me. During the war, these were done in all sorts of patriotic themes. They are reproduced these days. Here is the Wikipedia page for them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenugui
Rod Posted June 17, 2021 Share #5 Posted June 17, 2021 It is a Japanese tengui or towel and here's what it says... (the towel is written pre-1945 style: right to left, top to bottom) 除隊 Discharged from the army 記念 Commemoration 八日市 Youkaichi 飛行第三聯隊 3rd Flying Regiment
