It always pays to root around in those boxes of edged weapons left in the corner.  It also pays to pull all those plain-Jane swords out of their scabbards to look at the blades.

Very nice pick-up. 

One does not see apparent issued marked knives very often, as evidence by the rack numbers on top of the tang .  Most of these are found in excellent unused condition.

 

Also just to clarify, original documentation was found 12-13 years ago in Japan by T. Jimbo that verifies these were classified as the "Test Type 1 Knife".  It was designed as a side knife to be used by rangers and paratroops, not necessarily as a bayonet for any specific rifle.  This information was included in Ray LaBar's excellent book, "Bayonets of Japan".
