Princess Patricia's Battledress uniform, 1952

Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry uniform. The jacket is dated 1952.  The peaked cap is labeled, Commonwealth Government Clothing Factory, Melbourne. The cap with the badge is made by Buffalo Cap Co Ltd. Winnipeg, 1952  The armlet is something that i had never seen before. I am curious  as to it's purpose.   I also have the Battledress trousers. They are also dated 1952.
