bldrhouse Posted October 12, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2021 Unfortunately, the usually-responsive https://jref.com/ has not given me any responses at all to either of these Allegedly medic/doctor's armband from Japanese POW camp -- note Dr's name on it below red cross -- but I'd like to know what the kanji say before I buy it. And this tag?
Rod Posted October 12, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2021 I like them. This is what I have: Red Cross patch 医 - doctor 蘇 - resuscitate, revive 生 - live 逹立 - not sure what this means 人國英 - Person country English (from England or just speaking it?) Japanese Flag patch Katakana left and right sides are possibly the Doc's personal information, I could only guess at the meaning. Katakana are phonetic and suggest foreign words (as opposed to hiragana characters) Left side: レモニドガヤヒヤブ Right side: (?)ニガレナン Horizontal across the bottiom (Googled and found this) サニ カルロス Sani Karurosu = San Carlos (a burb?), Davao City 48歳 Age
SARGE Posted October 14, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 14, 2021 Rod, Thank you for helping translate Japanese for your fellow forum member. 😊 We should all remember to be appreciative of the translation assistance that is given by members with Japanese, German, etc. language skills. Don't overload them with requests and don't forget to thank them for their help. One always gets more flies with honey than without.
