Russian Para 6B28 Composite Helmet

The 6B28 were officially in production since 2006 but were only issued out in limited numbers for the first three years and seen use with the Russian Airborne Forces or VDV (from "Vozdushno-desantnye voyska Rossii", Russian: Воздушно-десантные войска России, ВДВ; Air-landing Forces) which is a military branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation These are an extremely light helmet system weighing in at only approximately 1.0 kilogram with a shell thickness of 8 millimeters.. Russian Camouflage patterns vary greatly but unless I am mistaken the cover on this particular example was first introduced in 2008 and is referred to as the EMR pattern..

It is a pixelated camouflage design intended to replace the VSR and Flora patterns. Officially called единая маскировочная расцветка (Edinaya maskirovochnaya rascvetka) or EMR, translating roughly as Universal Camouflage Pattern, the pattern is often referred to as Tsifra, Tetris or “digital flora.”

Several variations of this pattern have been produced, the most common of which is the leto (summer) variant incorporating tiny pixels of black, reddish-brown and foliage green on a pale green background. Other versions include sever (northern regions), zima (winter), and gorod (urban). Full-scale adoption began in 2011.
