Kia kaha Posted November 25, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2021 Used during the Border War period the Staldak of the Infantry of the Republic of South Africa (and the National serviceman) it is a licensed copy of the French M51 OTAN, made by C J Fuch Ltd. It has a few improvements to the chin strap and liner, this example is covered with hessian from an old sandbag then has a W.W.II netting helmet cover was then camo painted and a green South African nylon net applied over the top. a comparison with a 1950s French M51
ScottG Posted November 25, 2021 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2021 A fascinating topic, I have always been interested in the bush wars of South Africa as well as Portugal and Rhodesia. A very nice example you have there Mark! Scott
AKC123 Posted April 10, 2022 Share #3 Posted April 10, 2022 Always thought these were so much cooler than the 87 Kevlar helmets that replaced them. Thanks for sharing
