Scarecrow Posted November 29, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 29, 2021 I've had this original photo for some time now and it's always been somewhat of a mystery to me. It appears to be some sort of German patriotic print. My German is awful if non-existent, so I'm guessing "Vorposten Der Luft" means a Luftwaffe airfield? Next question would be what type of German aircraft is pictured? And the biggest mystery of all to me is that this photo on the back is dated 10/23/43 and appears to be stamped for the British Air Ministry. Has me stumped, hope someone here has any thoughts or answers. As always any help much appreciated.
Salvage Sailor Posted November 29, 2021 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2021 Looks like a photo of a page from a service magazine probably culled by the Air Ministry for their intel files. The title says "Outpost of the Air(force)", Vorposten der Luft(waffe). Vorposten is literally 'forward post' auf Deutsch, i.e. Outpost The airframe is an early model Blohm & Voss BV-138 Flying Boat (later model shown below)
