Mark K Posted November 30, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 30, 2021 Belgium M-71 airborne helmet modelled after the German model 1A1 Luftlandetruppenstahlhem ( M1A1 LL ) these were distributed and used by Belgium's Airborne forces from 1972 through to the 1990's and are near Identical to there German counterpart that they were modelled after with the exception of the leather open loop chin cup.. These replaced the Belgium Mk II Helmet Steel Airborne Forces helmet ( HSAT ) that was first produced in 1949 that seen service into the early 1970's, the helmet bodies were produced in three different sizes ( 66, 68 and 71 ) and the liners were designed to fit a head size ranging from ( 53 through 61 )... The weigh in at approx 1340, 1440 and 1540 grams dependent on the size of the helmet body, this particular example is in nice used condition and is sporting a hood section from a second variation Jigsaw pattern camo smock that was introduced some time in the mid 1970's.... Scott Morning Scott it is indeed I have never pulled the cover or net off of this example before but pulled it back enough for a little peak, the placement of the national flag would be the same as found on this Belgium Hybrid M-71 Para in my collection ...
