tonyfs Posted January 8, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2022 Hi everybody, I have Selous Scout wing number 0463 in my collection. I'm trying to find out whom it was issued to, wing number 0462 was issued to a Trooper Visagie, can anybody help please?
Kia kaha Posted January 9, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 9, 2022 Welcome, nice to see another Rhodie collector. Nice set of original wings, did it come with its backing felt? I have been compiling a list of these wings, and so far haven’t come up with any proof it was issued, it seems after Ron Reid-Daly was replaced by Pat Armstrong the issue of wings and berets was a bit random, not all of these were recorded it seems. tonyfs Posted January 9, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted January 9, 2022 Hi, thank you for the welcome and response. I couldn't figure out how to do the introduction bit on this site. Unfortunately it didn't come with the backing. As far as I could determine wings numbered 0461, 0462 and 0468 were issued, so it does appear rather random. I got this info from http://www.theselousscouts.com/ScoutsC.php I have another un issued wing in my collection, # 1233 I have shared a pic of a part of my collection. Kia kaha Posted January 10, 2022 Share #5 Posted January 10, 2022 Nice group of badges, well displayed I have wing 614 which was taken over to the U.S. by an ex serving Officer, he managed to get some of the unissued wings both metal and cloth. Unfortunately these were later stolen from his house in the United States. in reference to the above photo some names are not right, Moore and Edley are different people. below is a link to The Rhodesian Services Association museum here in New Zealand we have regular braai and get togethers http://thelionandtusk.org/ http://www.rhodesianservices.org/rhodesian-forces-archives-project.htm
