Fortunes Of War Posted January 13, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 13, 2022 Here is a 1000 stitch belt that was definitely there! The large red kanji characters across the front are knotted with red cotton threads and say, "Distinguished Service". There is a Japanese national flag or hinomaru stitched on the left-hand side. This belt appears to never have had any tie strings (many did not), even though the right-hand side appears to have been prepped for one.
JJS80 Posted January 14, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2022 Very nice piece Mr. Bortner. It looks as though it may be blood or burns on the material. It seems to have definitely been there. I hope that the owner of this belt survived to return back to his homeland. War is terrible and so many on the different sides lost their lives it’s a sad reality of battle.
