BryanJ Posted January 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2022 Here’s a Normandy map I picked up last year belonging to Major Robert Dexheimer, 979th Field Artillery Battalion. Anyone ever seen this map sheet before? Rare? A copy of the same map sheet was in General Eisenhower’s HQ in Reims. I also have the Major’s swagger stick shown in one of the photos. On the color side of the map, there is a hand written artillery symbol. Comments?
Custermen Posted January 30, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 30, 2022 Scale 1/250,000 covers a lot of area. I have a special Air Navigation chart entitled Paris to Rome that is 1:100,000 scale but it is 34 X 52 inches in size. That is 4 Feet! The map shows features to help in air navigation such as RailRoads and airports. Seaplane Ports are marked with an Anchor. A close-up detail. Airports marked with Purple Circle and seaplane ports with Purple Anchor.
