Dirk Posted January 29, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 29, 2022 Below is a boxed set of solid-cast Prussian Dragoon’s by Heyde. Heyde, a Dresden, German based company that started producing soldiers around 1870 and remaining in business until 1945 when it’s offices were destroyed. The company produced some marvelous soldiers in all different scales…these being 44mm. I suspect several figures are missing from the set such as a officer. A bit different type of figure then the English-based William Britain Ltd company produced, but since these have movable arms and painted in a similar style, were probably cast to compete with the toy soldiers of Britains. Normally, Heyde figures were fixed armed. The underside of the box has a FAO Schwarz label from an address the legendary New York toy store occupied from 1910 thru 1931. Since German imports would have stopped in 1917, and probably were rather unpopular in the years right after WWI, it’s likely these are pre-WWI made figures. Link to comment
Proud Kraut Posted January 29, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2022 Outstanding! Haven´t seen such an original Heyde box in this condition before. Thanks very much for sharing this set! Link to comment
Dirk Posted January 29, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted January 29, 2022 Lars thanks! I am normally a Britains collector, but when I saw this I had to pick it up. These really have a great “toy soldier feel” to them….underneath the tie-card are wood chips, just like the early German flats makers used to package their soldiers in the early 19th Century. Proud Kraut Posted January 31, 2022 Share #4 Posted January 31, 2022 It took a while to dig them out. If you don´t mind I´m adding some more pictures of Heyde figures here. Link to comment
