Thought I would share some photos of my collection of Arisakas and other Japanese weapons and items. I find Arisakas to be very interesting, especially type 99s. Most all my rifles are matching with mums very few have defaced mums and all are matching. Always looking to add to my displays. A9F296E1-4A11-406B-89AB-E186845E0411.jpeg.923d1ec78448fbb43ce38242700f0faa.jpegAE1701AE-90A6-4367-A02B-7EDBE83BBE9E.jpeg.c9a386525409233539a09a7dfcd31f73.jpegBA96DD20-161C-4C23-BC9A-C87882AD452A.jpeg.76ce9ac6f141dc322b6164e29d41fc6e.jpeg88CB56C4-ED20-415D-89C6-AC3F8189EBE5.jpeg.d948bdeab5ef077a9350feecd178338d.jpeg62B6A4C9-983B-4DF8-9A97-54CD9ED29EE0.jpeg.13f1ed9beeb98d127ba3de25922e8771.jpeg

That's a really nice display!  I also enjoyed seeing your "knee" mortar and tanker's helmet...very nice!

Fortunes Of War

Do you have a close-up image of the G.I. art on the suitcase, lower left side?

It’s not in the best shape but I thought it was a very interesting pieceC520C6B5-AAEE-4E40-8E8A-13B2A9282676.jpeg.7db6925b2b1cc2c871974b05c77d51e1.jpegD9161F5E-69D5-4214-A9CB-ECF765F47905.jpeg.2dfacdd2197ccbb22953f0dfeeb06c73.jpeg

Fortunes Of War

Wow, that has some beautiful art!  Many of these were done by soldiers or they paid someone to do it for them.  This one looks to have the ID's of the battles where he was a participant, and then later, proabably Army of Occupation at War's end.  I found a Thomas John DiGanci in IL who passed away at the age of 80, in November, 2002.  He served in the U.S. Army during the War and was a member of the Park Ridge (IL) VFW.  It looks like he was buried in the St. Joseph Cemetary in Niles, IL.  Interesting if this was your soldier...

Thanks for the info! It was just something I picked up because I thought the artwork was pretty well done despite the condition of the suitcase itself. I hadn’t been able to turn much up about the soldier.

Very impressive collection, mkite93!

Do you have any information relating to the red cross arm patch you've got on the desk?  Or any info relating to Japanese medics (or other individuals who would have worn this)?  I have not been able to find much info on the Imperial Japanese medical field!  Thanks in advance!
