Boy Howdy Posted February 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2022 I posted this on the USMF and it was ID'd as Columbian. I was wondering if it is an authentic buckle or fantasy piece. The back looks German? Thank you all in advance.

Boy Howdy Posted February 18, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted February 18, 2022 I know a lot of Germans lived in Columbia before (and after) WW 2.
numbersix Posted February 18, 2022 Share #4 Posted February 18, 2022 Colombian Army uniforms were based on Prussian pattern uniforms, including a Picklehaub, this uniform is still used at Colombian Military Academies for parade dress; from Wikipedia: "The Army was then dramatically reorganized under the guise of the Chilean military mission, the Chilean army which had adopted Prussian military doctrine and uniforms since 1886 did the same to the Colombian army as Colombian troops began using Prussian military uniforms and doctrine, which is still present today in the Colombian Military Academy with ceremonial uniforms being of Prussian influence and the use of Pickelhaube helmets." The Colombian National Police ceemonial dress is also based on 19th Century Prussian pattern uniforms, I believe. I have not been able to find a close up of any of the ceremonial uniformthe belt buckles, though they are rectangular and made of brass from what one can see. Boy Howdy Posted March 5, 2022 Author Share #6 Posted March 5, 2022 Buckle arrived. Here are some more pics..... A thought came to me too late to edit above post.... I wonder if when Columbia bought Mausers from Germany they also bought ammo belts, pouches, and buckles? 🤔
