SARGE Posted February 20, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2022 Gents, I picked up an early East German black leather holster for a PP pistol at a local militaria show today that I thought I would show. This holster is made in the same manner as wartime holsters but it has a butt flap of leather to secure the magazine. No markings but made in the style of the later brown leather DDR 7,65mm pistol holsters. The stud for the strap securing the flap is magnetic steel. SARGE Posted February 21, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted February 21, 2022 One of the things that distinguishes East German pistol holsters is the leather butt flap. This is a triangular piece of leather sewn into the butt side of the opening of the flap designed to keep the loaded magazine from falling out of the pistol if the magazine release is accidentally pressed. It can be seen sewn in the seam in the upper part of the open holster above. The east Germans put these leather flaps on most of the holsters they produced after 1945.
