Preppy Picker Posted February 28, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 28, 2022 Here are some interesting, at least to me, original photos of a German infantry unit in Russia.
Preppy Picker Posted March 1, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted March 1, 2022 Here they are the in the winter 42-43? On a train or back of truck. There are 40 some photos in the collection with their negatives.
Preppy Picker Posted March 2, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted March 2, 2022 I would imagine that this building is still standing. Anyone recognize it? Here they are rummaging through a downed Soviet plane. Standing in a trench. According to the grave marker, were these guys in the 2nd Inf Div.? Preppy Picker Posted March 9, 2022 Author Share #12 Posted March 9, 2022 He looks warm. Interesting covers these guys have on their helmets. Very hard to make out exactly what it says. Looks like they are covering the stained glass of a church in the background. Their final resting place. Usually, in the German Army, banging on metal was the sign for a gas attack. Is he sounding the alarm or letting everyone know it’s dinner time ? Any idea what the sign says? Notice his wound badge.
Proud Kraut Posted March 9, 2022 Share #13 Posted March 9, 2022 Thanks for posting more pictures! 1st part of the sign is hard to decipher but it´s most likely "Alarmglocke" (alarm bell).
Preppy Picker Posted March 9, 2022 Author Share #14 Posted March 9, 2022 I think you are correct and it makes the most sense. You can see the first 2 letters look like Al.
