Dirk Posted March 4, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2022 Another popular set of toy soldiers by William Britain Ltd. This one, the 6th Inniskilling Dragoon’s was outfitted by Britain’s in field service dress as they would have appeared during the Boer War (smooth sun helmet and dressed in khaki). These have been assessed to have been manufactured c. 1903 and are dated on the underside of each horse 1-1-1900. Note one figure riding a black horse has white fetlocks…this is believed to signify he is the group’s officer. Later figures from this set have a more greenish tone to their uniforms paint vice the earlier tannish khaki. These figures remained in production thru 1941, although the Regiment was amalgamated in 1922 with another regiment following WWI. The Box being a Whisstock art box, probably dates a bit later then the figures. Link to comment
