patches Posted March 28, 2022 #1 Posted March 28, 2022 Two of them here, they are from the 22nd Air Landing Division on Leros, the Greek Island, scene of that major debacle for the British in November 1943., an action so bad that sees the Commander of the 2nd Battalion The Royal Irish Fusiliers Lieutenant Colonel Maurice French Killed in Action, Two British Generals capture and on and on. We see the KRIM Shield on the one, and that's because the 22.Luftlande Division seen action in the USSR, with action in the Crimea before being transferred to the Mediterranean theater as garrison troops, like on Crete. No idea where they acquired the SS Covers though. Note too the wholescale wear of tropical caps by them, and no doubt a lot of tropical Tunics.
Skysoldier80 Posted April 2, 2022 #2 Posted April 2, 2022 Do you own this photo? Awesome, love the 22nd Luftlande Div
mikie Posted April 2, 2022 #3 Posted April 2, 2022 Out of Russia and to the Mediterranean. No wonder they are smiling.

patches Posted August 1, 2022 Author #8 Posted August 1, 2022 I found this today, we do see a Heer NCO on the left, that's clear, the NCO on the right, with the SS Camo cover and smock, we're also seeing Heer Litzen, but I'm not 100% sure as of yet he is Heer, we have to remember that the 4th SS Polizei Division wore Heer Litzen, at the beginning of the war and wore the SS Camo. Seeing that the Heer NCO is using a mosquito helmet net, this photo could be one taken in late summer of 1941 in the area heading towards Leningrad, an area that is marshy, and that NCO with the SS stuff is indeed from the 4th SS Polizei Division. a unit that indeed fought in that area, in example Luga south of Leningrad.
patches Posted August 2, 2022 Author #9 Posted August 2, 2022 An example of an early member of the 4th Polizei Division in 1941, note the Heer litzen
patches Posted September 15, 2022 Author #10 Posted September 15, 2022 This one is definitely Heer, an Officer with a SS Smock, note cap, and the buckle and officer litzen.. USSR , date probably in early 1943 as we see the man in the left foreground wearing what looks like a Mouse Grey reversible hooded jacket. but unit unknown.
patches Posted May 15, 2023 Author #11 Posted May 15, 2023 Another one with a SS Smock, he's in the Grossdeutschland Division , 1944.
patches Posted June 29, 2023 Author #12 Posted June 29, 2023 Another for reference sake of a Polizei Division SS Mann in 1941.
patches Posted September 24, 2023 Author #13 Posted September 24, 2023 Heer wearing SS Camouflage Smock. Location Unit Name Unknown, a Soldier of an Infantry Unit though it would seem by the soutache on cap
SARGE Posted September 24, 2023 #14 Posted September 24, 2023 Interesting... it looks like this fellow is wearing spurs.
patches Posted April 28, 2024 Author #15 Posted April 28, 2024 Another Heer with SS Smock somewhere in the Poland 1944, unit unknown.
patches Posted October 20, 2024 Author #16 Posted October 20, 2024 A 1st Parachute Division Officer at Monte Cassino wearing an SS Smock as we see, without a doubt gotten from the stores of the Hermann Goering Panzer Division
patches Posted June 6 Author #17 Posted June 6 Two shots of an Unknown Heer RK Holder of an unknown division, a Sergeant, wearing a SS Camo Tunic, in Poland in the summer of 44 I think.
