SARGE Posted May 17, 2022 Share #4 Posted May 17, 2022 German sword hanger missing the belt loop and regain hook with chain. Is the buckle brass or white metal color?
easterneagle87 Posted May 24, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted May 24, 2022 The buckle appears to be brass. Does that help date it?
SARGE Posted May 25, 2022 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2022 Some hangers had gold or silver color buckles that might indicate the specific service. For instance if the buckle was white metal it could be the Fire Service (Feuerwehr). Since it is gold color brass it could be Austrian with the attachment to the scabbard ring being leather instead of a metal snap hook. It is hard to tell since it is not all there.
