The Kiwis are noted more for action in Africa and Italy, but one division, the NZ 3rd Infantry Division seen a bit of action against the Japanese in the Solomons. Note the helmet covers, they look exactly like the kind the British Army Commandos were wearing in 1941-42 in England and the raids.

NZ Troops on Fiji with American Troops May 1942, NZ unit and U.S. unit unknown. The U.S. unit may be a element of that Task Force 6814, you know the unit that would become the Americal Division, those guys get out to the South Pacfic very early in the war, like in March 1942.

hessian covers made during W.W.II, the green dyed was originally for use in the Pacific area and was used upto the 1970s, the khaki version was used in N. Z. Upto the 1960s

Yep sure is, check out the above post, shows a mint condition cover before being dyed as well as the 3rd Div one.

helmet covers being used late 1950s in NewZealand, these and the green dyed version would be used upto the late 70s on the  NewZealand issue M1 helmet.
