The U.S. unit may be a element of that Task Force 6814, you know the unit that would become the Americal Division, those guys get out to the South Pacfic very early in the war, like in March 1942. Z. Upto the 1960s Yep sure is, check out the above post, shows a mint condition cover before being dyed as well as the 3rd Div one. helmet covers being used late 1950s in NewZealand, these and the green dyed version would be used upto the late 70s on the NewZealand issue M1 helmet.
