My 1st Japanese Helmet

I have been a collector since 1969, and in those years I picked up a few small Japanese items, but was never very interested in it.  Over the past two years, mostly because they were real good deals, I have picked up a uniform & cap. Yesterday my wife presented me with a helmet to go with the uniform.
I’m a lucky guy.

That's a nice Type 90 Army helmet, size large.  It looks like the leather liner is in good condition and the chin ties appear to be uncut...or has there been a repair to one of them?

The chin strap is the full length standard type. There have not been any repairs.

I agree! Great example! If your careful you can flip over pad to find ink stamped Showa date.

Here it is

The number looks like "16", for Showa 16 (it's a bit faded for me to see clearly.  Maybe Jareth can see it and offer an opinion).  If that is the case that makes it a 1941 date.  Nice condition!

Sarge-

I guess we can turn it around and say "That's what happens when you choose your wife wisely too!"

Very nice find and speaking of finding how did your wife find it?

We were traveling through Nebraska and she found it in a shop. She just called me an said “I found you an old army helmet “.
