Solomon Islands War Club

1944 and Guadalcanal marked, I’m wondering whether this is truly wartime and by then most Japanese resistance was over. I’m asking because maybe someone here has information on these? Not modern fake? About 18”  supposedly used by islanders as a club?

Fortunes Of War

It looks like a wartime sourvenir to me, perhaps made in the Solomon Islands. The veteran (or whoever made the piece) could have added the battle names.  This is just a guess, but it looks nice.

These are fairly common bring backs from those who served in the Solomons.  My Dad, who  was there, including Guadalcanal, in 1943 and 1944 brought one back.  I'd post it but I gave it to my sister who does not live close by.
