Fresh house find Sawtooth bayonet

A very nice S98/05 sawback bayonet.  Made by Gottlieb Hammesfahr in Solingen for the Prussians in 1916.

Sorry, but I don't have a rank list for the S98/05 showing scarcity but not an uncommon maker.  Your bayonet is a nice unaltered example that was originally finished bright though.

Thank you Sarge, I guess I should have asked if it was common or not. I couldn’t find any by this maker but one in worse condition without the scabbard for what seams to be a very high price.

 

Here is the mark on the scabbard.
