Brig Posted September 6, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2022 When I came back from Norway in 2017, this was a pipe dream I figured would never happen, or at least take well over a decade to hunt down. Last year, I was able to assemble this little group. In the summer of 1942, largely as a power play, the SS absorbed the Norges SS into its Germanic SS program, and the Germanske SS Norge (GSSN) was born. Many members held dual membership in the Politi, and the organization numbers peaked at about 1300 in 1944. About half of the members also served as volunteers in the Waffen SS on the eastern front as members of the divisions Nord, Nordland, and Wiking, among others. These are all German-made insignias. Norwegian-made insignias exist but are much harder to find. The only thing I need to find to complete this display is the skull for the black mountain cap. As soon as I pick one of them up, this will be getting framed in a nice display For reference, a couple of GSSN members in uniform... And the insignias...
