Husky43 Posted October 3, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted October 3, 2022 Thanks. Looks to be marked up to a European nation, perhaps Britain or Belgium?

patches Posted October 9, 2022 Share #6 Posted October 9, 2022 "The Australian Army also extensively used the M113 in Vietnam, but like their American counterparts, thought the vehicle needed more firepower. Australia was also interested in procuring a light fire support vehicle for its paratrooper units. To address both issues, turrets from Saladin armored cars--which were being withdrawn from service--were added to the tops of a standard M113A1. The .50 caliber machine gun was deleted; the Saladin turret armed a 76mm low-velocity gun and two .30 caliber machine guns. It was designated the M113A1 Fire Support Vehicle (FSV). The Australian Army hoped that the FSV would replace the Centurion tank, which was very heavy for South Vietnam's roads. In combat, the FSV left a lot to be desired. The added weight of the turret led to it bogging down much easier than a standard M113, while the 76mm gun initially lacked sights. Making matters worse that a M113 could be easily destroyed by a RPG that would bounce off a Centurion. The FSVs were withdrawn from Vietnam back to Australia."
