SARGE Posted October 13, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2022 Gents, A longtime colleague gave me an SA armband with a wartime letter of providence this week that I thought I would show. It is a Party armband showing the SA Sport Badge in the center of the red cloth armband where one would normally see the swastika. It has a paper RZM tag on the inside and the ends are sewn together. Perhaps the best part is a letter from his Uncle dated "May 3, 1945" describing the armband and the fact that it was a gift. He talks a bit about the war and believes "...the war in Germany will soon be over." He was right as rain there. Anyway, I have never been entirely certain of the purpose of this SA Sport armband. Were they worn by SA Men who were conducting the physical tests for the SA Sport Badge or some other purpose? Thanks for looking.
Proud Kraut Posted October 13, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2022 Referring to a quick online research this armband was worn by "SA Wehrsport-Leitern" (SA paramilitary sports leaders).
SARGE Posted October 14, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted October 14, 2022 Thanks for the proper wartime designation Lars. I can now put it with my various Sports Awards.
