Rohling81 Posted November 29, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 29, 2022 Hello Gents, I'm hoping this forum is right to ask about reproduction badges. Specifically the early reproduction variants made by Patch King. I'm looking to find out if they made german army Jäger sleeve badges too. Going through the archive I found a thread linked to another thread in the US-MILITARIA-FORUM there is a collection of german badges photographed that were mailed together with a Patch King newsletter and passed on from a very early 40s collector. https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/76596-the-patch-king/page/2/ post #43 Maybe someone has seen their Jäger insignias too or even better still has a example. I understand this is very hard to come by but if I can take a chance, why not here. Best regards Rohling
Proud Kraut Posted November 29, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2022 Good question! The USMF is our sister forum, here´s one more link to another Patch King topic with some more catalogs. I went through it but couldn´t find any evidence for a PK Jäger badge. https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/36149-wwii-patch-album-collection-part-ii/
Rohling81 Posted November 29, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted November 29, 2022 Hello Lars, good to hear back from you! That was a very nice read as well, thank you for the link. I'm sending you my findings regarding the Patch King german insignias. It seems like they were being made as early as 1944! In one of the Lists there are german badges of Mt. troops Divisions mentioned, it states "Sig. Bn. Mt. Troops" which probably is referring to this Jäger "Blitz" Funker badge seen in the picture attached. That bolt looks rather thin and done with less thread then normal. It might be a hint to the Jäger oak leaf badge which is done in a similar fashion. I still haven't found that badge mentioned yet. But that bolt is part of a Jäger tunic so chances are very high they made the oak leafs badge too since it is a very notable badge like the Edelweiss. For comparison I have attached a picture showing one of the abnormal mid-green Jäger sleeve badge variants in question and a Patch King transport Sergeant badge, you will notice the similarity in the material of the cloth backing as well as the brighter toned green which is against the rules.
