Great Shot Of The Polish Helmet

This is actually from a movie, the 1967 Polish movie Westerplatte, note the German  Karabiner 98 AZ they're armed with., but this would be accurate as the Polish either had them from the Great War in old German stores, or captured from Freikorps etc, or they will be the Polish made ones, I think the Polish name of them was the Karabinek wz.29 (Clarification Needed Please).

Those are Polish made K98a (or az) rifles. The square base on the stacking hook is a clear give away. They didn’t start producing them until after they received the equipment from the Imperial German Arsenal in Danzig in 1921, so they are post WW I production. They were produced right up until the start of WW II in 1939.

 

The Karabinek wz.29 was a different rifle - developed in the late 1920’s, based on the K98az. The most obvious difference is that It didn’t have the stacking hook. Otherwise it was very similar to the K98az in apprearance. Most of the other changes were internal or in the composition of the steel used.
