German Bayonet With GI Modified Scabbard

Just seen this on The Bay, GI modified the scabbard to hook to Pistol or Cartridge Belt with the familiar hook wire attachment, like from a canteen cover etc. Bayonet seems WWI, but the scabbard as we see is WWII, a 1940 Date.

This could be a post WWII Israeli modification. They used tons of old German weaponry and US gear.

You maybe right Allan, on relooking at it, that modification looks for a lack of a better word, Arsenal, done rather that a ad hoc field expediency done by a GI.
