Question...

I saw a film about 30 or 40 years ago on television, set in Hungary 1944-1945.  I have been searching for its title for years.

What I remember...

The movie was a Hungarian-made film, in color.  I think it was filmed on location in Hungary. Looked like something typical of the late 1970s-early 1980s.

Story focused on a boy and his family in a German-occupied village.  His mother takes up with a Waffen-ᛋᛋ officer, a Hauptsturmführer, I think.

There's a scene, after he spent the night, of him putting on his boots and her son, who in the film is a young, pre-teenaged boy, is watching.  Multiple scenes of the Arrow Cross, wearing armbands, conscripting men to "fight for your country".  At the end of the film, the boy is in a forest near a creek, and takes a PPSh-41 from two dead Red Army soldiers and curiously pulls the trigger, firing it and falling backwards in the process.

Sound even remotely familiar?
