Can anyone ID this European style folding shovel?  I don't see any markings at all.   The leather carrier has studs instead of buckles to hold the shovel in place.  Any chance its German WW2?  Many thanks in advance.

Hello Escapeguy.

I believe that maybe an East German entrenching tool. The leather cover has the two rivets on the fold over straps. I attach images of the tool, a cover on its own and also a Dutch cover which is different.

The Bakelite tightening nut was used by the East Germans.  Not a very good idea because they tended to break.
