Soelong Posted July 22, 2023 #1 Posted July 22, 2023 Good morning International forum. This is my first post here. Need some help on deciphering the markings on this imperial German bayonet. Are these unit markings? If so could someone tell me what they stand for. Thanks in advance, Gary
SARGE Posted July 22, 2023 #2 Posted July 22, 2023 Welcome Gary. The property markings on the reverse guard seem to read: 133rd Infantry Regiment, 12th Company, bayonet #232 in inventory. The markings on the back spine of the blade should indicate the State it was made for (Prussia if a crown/W) and the two digit date, along with inspection markings but they are largely unreadable to me. I hope this helps.
patches Posted July 23, 2023 #3 Posted July 23, 2023 This is a Saxon Bayonet, 9. Königlich Sächsische Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 133. the monarchical cypher on it should be the Saxon one. Like this one that was sold awhile back. https://stewartsmilitaryantiques.com/german-wwi-s98-bayonet-saxon-unit-marked-schillingsuhl-1906.43512.archive.htm
