Got this off of eBay about 15 or more years ago. When I was in the US Navy, we had a blue jacket manual. Saw this and figured it had to be the Kriegsmarine version of a ble jacket manual so bought it. There are more illustrations ad photos I could post if the forum interested in them let me know. The part that got me they had one of the US aircraft carriers in it like a target. The US Navy blue jacket manual trains you in seaman ship just like this one does. There is some U-Boat photos in it also might post them later.

My grandfather was on the USS Lexington sister ship the USS Saratoga they looked identical except the Saratoga had a black strip going down on the island on the flight deck to tell them apart it's like they had my grandads ship as a target.

I think the book was published the first time in the mid 1930´s. Regarding the U.S. ships : as far as I can read the depicted parts of the text they are not described as targets but as examples for different types of ships (the German Navy never had a carrier so they used the U.S. one).

There's a date 16. Marz 1935 I guess for March 16, 1935

They even had the Japanese navy ships in the book. You are taught to know other countries Navy ships, so you know your own so in time of war you don't shoot at your own.

In old movies you will see coast watchers they have an aircraft ID book to report enemy aircraft you are taught the same in the Navy. Use to stand port and starboard and fantail watch with binoculars looking for contacts knowing what you are looking at for ID helps. After a while when I got promoted  I became boatswain mate of the watch in charge of bridge team passed the words on the 1MC and blew the pipe trained the bridge team and followed the officer of the deck orders and made sure everyone did their job, port and starboard, Helm, Lee Helm, status board where you post the ships name radar contacts or what the lookouts spot, messenger, fantail watch and aft steering watch.

A few more pages out of the book. Funny some stuff Navies still do today when on a Submarine tender when submarines practice shooting practice torpedo's there's a boat that picks up the torpedo after its shot and runs out of fuel and floats to the surface and picked up by a boat designed for this. Also posted some navy uniform and flag ID might help member ID stuff. Got more to post just let me know and I will post more out of the book.
